The metadata your PDF carries
PDFs record details about themselves that most people never see: an author name — often taken from the computer's user account — a title, subject and keywords, the software that made the file, and when it was created and last edited.
What is cleared
Title, author, subject and keywords are emptied, the creator and producer fields are blanked, and the creation and modification dates are reset.
What is left alone
Some PDFs hold a second copy of this information in an XMP metadata block, which this tool does not remove. Comments, hidden layers, form data and everything visible on the pages also remain.
Before a document goes outside
Clear metadata on files heading to clients, the other side of a negotiation or the public. If the pages themselves contain sensitive text, redact that as well.

The metadata is rewritten in your browser; the document is never uploaded.
